Tires and Wheels problem
1990 Chevy Lumina 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

i just bought this car and the problem im having is when you get going down the road, the tires make a vibrating noise that gets louder the faster you go. there is a slight vibration you can feel in your feet, but the steering wheel doesnt move at all and the car drives really good other than the vibrations. weve checked the bearings and they are fine. a friend of mine said it may be the cv joint on the right side. is this dangerous? or could it just be the tires? the tires are brand new deep tread tires.

Hi:
If you feel the vibration in the floor and not the steering, chances are the problem is in the rear and not the front. Check for belt shift, fethering of the tires... Also, have you had the tire ballance checked?

Finally, if a CV joint is bad, here is how to check. Go to a parking lot where there is a lot of room. At slow speed, turn the steering left and listen for a clicking. Do the same to the right. When they are bad, you will hear a clicking.
