Engine Mechanical problem
1990 Chevy Lumina 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 113K miles

I have a 90 Chevy Lumina Euro 3.1L with 113,000 miles on it. I recently changed the fuel filter because the car stalled on me on the highway. I was doing about 65mph when it stalled. I was able to start it again and almost got home before it would not start again. After getting it home it started, but died when I gave it gas. Changed the fuel filter, and it still does it. It idles better than before,(in park, drive, and reverse) and I tested the fuel pressure, and it is within spec. I have no trouble codes, I checked that twice, and the fuel pressure four times already. It dies out at 3,000 RPM, like clockwork. I have read many forums, and get everything from a bad crank sensor, MAP sensor, EGR Valve,TPS, and so on....I am about at my wits end! Please anything would help.

After 2 months of hell, I believe that I may have found the problem. After replacing my crankshaft position sensor, i noticed a frayed wire on the pigtail. check that also. If the car starts and smells like it is running rich, try unplugging the temp sensor located below the thermostat housing. I did this and the car seems to run better. I may have a glitch in my ECM on that circuit and the Crank Position Sensor circuit because of a frayed wire that I had to fix. I will be replacing my ECM and Temp Sensor on payday, and hopefully that will fix the rest of my problems.
