Oil issues-Lack of oil=need to replace engine???????

I have a 2004 Touarag 6 cyl. My wife was driving it and failed to change oil. The car has close to 50,000 miles on it and probably only had a few oil changes. She put it in dealer for maintenance (A/C issue) as the car was running just fine. The dealer claims the engine is shot, all "mucky" inside and they want 10K to replace an engine.
Is this the only solution????They claim they can clean it up for 8000- but with no warranty.

As I said, the car was running OK.

flush's are risky. Try adding a little marvel mystery oil to the oil, drive it 500 miles and change again. Do this 3 or 4 times

It is funny to listen to the Chevron gas commercials. BTW... What does a clean engine look like on the inside?
There is gonna be black carbon, soot, sludge(oil and water combined to name a few. It is not "clean" if it has been used as a vehicle(driven).
Your fireplace ain't clean either even if you use those "clean burning" logs.

Oil on the outside of the engine, well, I guess you can't eat off it. Other than that, so what?

The car runs fine. An oil change will improve on the longevity of the motor(as you are removing fine abrasives ) in that dirty oil. A change in filters would help more.

The fact is the dirty oil was not dirty enough to plug the oil filter and that is the good news. There is nothing wrong. Go to jiffy lube and do an oil and filter change and then another one 500-1000 miles later and then you should be fine at doing it at the recommended intervals from that point on.
