your plugs in that car should be good for 60,000 miles. as for performance plugs, i would suggest using what the factory calls for. Here is a guide to help walk you through the job with diagrams below to show you how on your car.

Not much clearance to get at the rear spark plugs

Remove the two top motor mounts (Dog bones )then get a ratcheting tie down to tilt the engine forward.Then remover the plugs and out them back in, still tight but at least theres some room

Check leads are fitted correctly and pushed all the way home, have you just got any fuel? at night go out and start engine and lift bonnet, watch for any ignition spark arcing to earth.

I have a chevy Impala 2004 and it takes a very long time to start and it sound like it's clogged and then when I finally get it to turn on it makes really weird noises and when I come to a complete stop or when I'm slowing down the car completely shuts off ... we changed the coil wires and we changed the spark plugs and the box that the coil wires plugged into but I guess that was not it because it's still makes the same noise and it takes forever to start and when it does it shut off . Can u please help

The description sounds like it could be almost anything. From a plugged exhaust system, bad fuel pump, bad fuel regulator, EGR stuck open, purge solenoid stuck open and more. It needs to go to a shop and have it actually scanned and some diagnostic tests performed. The other option is to spend a bunch of money swapping parts until you get lucky or go broke.

You didn't post which engine you have so that also hinders the process.

3400 motor. I was having a misfire on cylinder 4 so I went to change the plugs and wires. Plug 4 was covered in oil and gas when pulled. I replaced the plugs and the car was still misfiring. I pulled plug 4 again within 10 minutes and it was covered in oil again. It appears to be getting spark to it. What could it be?

chances are your valve seals for that cylinder is cracked, if that isnt it then you will probably need new piston rings.

I recently changed the spark plugs and the wires. After the change, car starts but the rpm falls and the engine idles. No matter how many times I try, it always starts just fine but it does not stay up. I thought the spark plugs were bad since I got genuine subaru wires but NGK laser iridium plugs. I switched the plugs with Bosch platinum and still doing the same thing. One thing I did notice that when I was taking the plugs out, couple of the spark plugs had quite a bit of engine oil in it. I cleaned the plug holes a bit. Could anyone please help. Ask me any question. Thanks.

are you sure the wires are on the correct posts on the cap. You might have retarded the firing order

IT possibly is the air flow meter & the o2 sensor & the idle control valve it ,may pay to get these checked.

you have to feel for the plugs and use an extension and possibly an adapter so that you can get the right angle

the plugs are at positions 5,3,1 and 2,4,6 at the bottom of each side picture, pull number 1 wire off the top of the number 1 plug using a spark plug socket, unscrew plug from head .. screw new plug back in hole ... taking real care not to cross thread .. re-clip wire back onto plug .. repeat this for every plug .. do not mix up wires .. or your firing order will be wrong ..

How do you change the spark plugs on a 2002 Chevy Impala?

Remove the plug wires from the plugs, then remove the spark plugs from the engine with a 5/8 inch spark plug socket. (engine needs to be cold) If installing the spark plugs to an existing cylinder head tighten the spark plugs to 15N·m (11 lb ft). Notice: Be sure plug threads smoothly into cylinder head and is fully seated. Use a thread chaser if necessary to clean threads in cylinder head. Cross-threading or failing to fully seat spark plug can cause overheating of plug, exhaust blow-by, or thread damage. Follow the recommended torque specifications carefully. Over or under-tightening can also cause severe damage to engine or spark plug

Note: Use only AC Delco spark plugs. Do NOT use Bosch plugs!

I want to change my spark plug but those plugs in the back of the engine i can't ever see them how can i change them if i can't see do i just get on top of the engine and feel for the plug and try to get a wrench on it that way can u help me.

Yes bank 2 plugs are buried. Depending on what engine size you have there are sometimes two upper motor mounts on the front that bolt to the radiator core support. If this vehicle has those still mounts you can remove them then using a ratchet strap pull the engine forward alittle. This makes it slightly easier, but still not fun.

I just did mine over the weekend. The back is a pain in the a$$.
I found it easier to access the middle and drivers side one's if you remove the cross bar at the very back. For the passenger side slide the alternator out of the way and you can reach that one relatively easy. Removeing the old cables from the old plugs was the hardest part of the whole process for me.

I am trying to find out how to install the 3 Rear Spark Plugs in my 2000 Chevy Impala 3.8 what do I do?

Yes, the back three spark plugs are difficult to get to. The way I get to them it to disconnect both of the top most engine mounts (two mounts) attached to core support just above the radiator. Then with a come along straps rock or pull the engine towards the radiator with the straps. There is a metal loop bracket under the plastic engine cover that you can strap to. Then, you'll have more access to the rear spark plugs.
