Hello,

The clicking sound when turning is a good indication of a CV Axle going bad.

I have a 2006 Impala. The driver's side CV axle was replaced abot a year ago and I too have the clicking noise when turning stopped and slow speeds. I didn't notice clicking noise until AFTER the new axle was installed. What could it be?

Well, there could be a few causes for the problem...

Weak Oil Pump

Weak or Bad Lifter or Lifters

Clogged Oil Passages

The metallic clicking noise ONLY happens when the steering wheel is turned. One click when turned left and one click when turned right. Noticable when car is not moving (with window down or standing outside of car and other driver), or at slow speed from stop and only when steering wheel is moved ie; backing out or driveway or turn a corner from a stop. It appears to be coming from the driver's side behind the front wheel. Perhaps from the steering rack?

I also had the front disks resurfaced about a year ago. They were within specs after machining. Could there be a loose pad or backing plate? These are original brakes and sufficient pad material still exists. This was my company car I bought with 72K miles, mostly highway. What do you think?

Ok, Check the Tie Rod End. The best way is to jack vehicle up so wheel is off ground, then grab the tie rod and see if it loose.
