If the fluid is topped up, the problem is with the brake fluid level sensor located in the reservoir. If that doesn't work, you may need to have the ABS system scanned for codes. Even though it is not the ABS light, it can be related to an ABS issue

Read the guide below, it will explain.

Had the LOW BRAKE FLUID message come up in the message center. TRAC OFF light and BRAKE light also came on. Never lost brake function. The fluid was not low in the reservoir tank. Had the sensor replaced to see if that corrected the issue and it did not. Car is functioning well otherwise. There are no leaks in the lines or calipers. The fluid level has not changed. Brake pads are not low either. Have read info that it could be a BCM or ignition switch. LIghts have remained on. Have also tried disconnecting the batt cables for a few minutes and that did not reset anything. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hello,

I would check the connection between the sensor and the BCM if okay the BCM is bad here is a guide to help test the wire and the wiring diagrams so you can see the color wire and the BCM location in case you need to replace it with a rebuilt unit.

Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

The reservoir was never low on fluid. Plus, the ABS light never came on. Only the red park brake light, TRAC OFF and LOW BRAKE FLUID in the message center. The fluid level remains at the max line. I checked the wire it was okay had the BCM replaced, cost me $350.00

Hi:
The traction control is controled by the abs. There must ba a sensor bad at one of the wheels. Have the computer scanned to determine which one it is.

The Brake warning light stays on. The brakes have been checked and the fluid is full, the brakes work fine and the ATC brake person could not find anything wrong. He thought it may be a sensor and could not get to it that time. The Parking brake is used all the time could this have something to do with the light being on?

That is your brake fluid sensor in the fluid reservoir.

BTW, good job for using the parking brake. Very seldom I see someone that uses it all the time.

I also had that issue. all I did was top off the brake fluid level and it went away. Usually would get the code when it was very cold. If your traction control light brake light and cruise control don’t work it’s the same issue.

Hi,

Others jumped in and I didn't see your reply. Actually, it could be the level sensor as was mentioned. As far as the parking brake, that wouldn't cause it.

Let me know what is happening.

Hello,

It sounds like the brake fluid is low due to the car needing front brake pads which is what I would check first. Here is a guide to help you see what you are in for when doing the job step by step and instructions to do the job on your car in the diagrams below.
