Brakes problem
2005 Chevy Impala 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 62k miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
when i apply the brakes it feels fine at first... then if i let up and apply again the pedal travels alot farther, almost to the limit. there is a noise comming from the engine that sounds like a wheering/quite clicking. the noise seems to match the rpms. about 1 month ago i noticed the brake fluid was very low. i added fluid and the level has been fine ever since, but the problem has gotten worse. i did notice the brake fluid reservoir's cap gasket has mushroomed out.

If you have an expanded rubber cap seal, it's a good sign that whatever you put in that master wasn't brake fluid...you must have used a petroleum product of some type, and now ALL rubber parts will need replacing...including ABS system parts! The system is contaminated!
