I had my tires rotated and they told me the left hub bearing was loose, is this the same thing as a wheel bearing?

Yes, it is a sealed hub that replaces the traditional pressed in bearing.

You would want to replace the hub as soon as possible, as it will get worse and start making a grinding noise.
