knock sensor

How do you remove the knock sensor on the back side of a 2003 impala 3.8l the one closest to the fire wall do I need to drain the antifreeze and what special tool do I use because I can not get a socket to it.

This knock sensor is very difficult to replace. It is on the back/bottom of the engine next to the trans axle.

See the diagrams below for instructions on replacing it

I need to replace the knock sensor on bank 2. But I have no idea how to remove it. The source between the oil pan and transmission is to tight to squeeze a socket through. Any ideas?

the transmission has to come out then drain cooling system. remove shield around it . I do not see any tips from mechanics. maybe if you got lucky and used an open end wrench from the side . Be sure not to over tighten if you do it destroys the sensor and you have to replace it again.
