Transmission problem
2003 Chevy Impala 6 cyl Automatic 185000 miles

my car makes a slight jump right after i start to drive. that happens usually after a stop by red lights. a mechanic advising me to wait till the transmission gone. he suspect it might b already damaged. what should i do? is that possible to fix the problem without replacing the whole system which can clean my pocket?

Hello, You say it only does it when starting off from a stop? It is possible that it is the Inner CV Joint going bad. The only way to check it is to jack up the vehicle and crawl under it, then grab the CV Axle near the inner rubber boot and move it up and down and turn it a little to see how much play is in it. If you can turn it a little and it creates the bump/jump you hear or feel then I would say you just need to replace the CV Axle. You will need to check both CV Axles. Below are pic of the Axles.... Looking at the pics the right side is the Inner CV Joint. Driver Side
