2001 Chevy Impala Stock CD Player

The CD player may need a good clean and service, contact you radio shop for further advice, they may have a history of these players "giving up" after a certain time and it then may be a waste of money fixing it.

Yeah someone told me to clean it since the CD players in cars are usually the slot load ones.

So for starters the first thing I can think of is one of those discs that clean the lens.

However after the cd player refused my CDs, I jsut left the CD player alone. About 3 hours you can still hear the Cd player sitting there trying to eject a CD even if there wasn't a CD in there. And when I put the key into the ignition to start it all up, the cd player will continue to display "CHECK CD". Even when I put a CD in, it will reject it. Currently solution I have thought of is after it rejects the CD and ejects it; as long as I leave the CD sticking out of the slot loader it won't make anymore noise or initiative to eject anything.

The other thing on my mind about this CD player problem is.... would local electronic stores be-able to replace that with a new one without screwing up the car?

I would toss the CD over the left shoulder and get a new one, as for having it installed, it's not rocket science, but then some or the fitters at radio stores aren't quite nuclear physicists either, I'm afraid it may be pot luck, if you are careful and follow instructions carefully you may be able to do it your self.

I found some alternatives to working around the CD Player but I was just afraid if the car's anti-theft security system is linked to the CD Player.

I had a Lumina in the past were I couldn't do anything to the CD player b/c the anti-theft system to shutting the whole car off was wired to it for some reason.

I was just wondering if swapping it with a new would not tamper with that security system that embedded somewhere in the car ;)

First time owning an american car so it's like moon language to me :)

i know where your at with the moon language, i am based in Australia so it's dark side of the moon for me sometimes. I just don't know about the anti theft set up i will see if i can find out any info on our data base.
