My mechanic says I need a new AC compressor at a cost of $1100. I have a friend of a friend who says he can do the job for me for cost of parts only. He's not a professional mechanic, but knows cars. He's preparing to replace the engine in his pick-up. My question is if this job can be done without all of the computer hook ups etc a professional car repair business would have?

Thanks for any help you can provide,

Cheryl

Yes, but if you had a catastrophic failur, then small bits of metal and in some cases, teflon, are also in the system! I'ts fine if he knows how to clean it all out..
