Powertrain Control Module In air cleaner box. Here is the instructions and location of the PCM which I would get a a preprogrammed unit by searching Google or Ebay. Check out the images (below). Let us know if you need anything else.

If you are talking about the PCM, Power train Control Module it is located on the left Side Of Engine Compartment, Inside Air Filter Box.

I am trying to find someone who can tell me the location of the computer on a 2001 Chevy Impala 3.4 L and possible provide a picture. Thanks

Where is the ECU on a 2001 chevy impala 3.8 L and how do you replace it?

The PCM is in the aircleaner box

Excuse my ignorance; but is the PCM and ECU the same thing and is it difficult to replace?

Its the same thing-disconnect the negative battery cable then find it and unplug the wiring connectors-Bear in mind that you might have to go thru a computer relearning process after replacement due to battery disconnection.
