Why is my car running hot? The coolant is leaking out of the manifold and the temperature keeps going up and down. When I add more coolant it gets hotter.

It's getting hot because the coolant is leaking out of the manifold.

In order for your cooling system to function correctly, it needs to maintain a certain pressure. Usually around 12-15 PSI.

This guide can help us

If your intake manifold gasket is leaking, then it's not allowing the pressure to build up, and your coolant is boiling.

first make sure that you bleed the cooling system completely. you can tell if it is a temp switch by using a code scanner that has a data stream

Yes it's still running hot . I replaced the head gasket, thermastat, Water pump an it's still running hot and there is still no pressure coming from the radiator to the engine or vise versa. Car is blowing cool air with the heater on high...

Check the water pump

One way to test for a bad water pump is to squeeze the upper radiator hose when the engine is hot and idling. Careful, because the hose will be HOT! If you do not feel much coolant circulating through the hose when you rev the engine, the pump may be bad. The other cause might be a bad thermostat that is not opening properly (remove and inspect the thermostat), or a clogged radiator.

My 2000 Chevy Impala temperature gauge is indicating that the engine is running hot, but the engine is not showing signs of running hot or leaking cooliant. I have already ready replaced both fans, thermostat and also replaced the temp guage sensor, but the temperature guage still indicates that the car tempature is hot. Any solution to this problem?

if the gauge goes past 3/4 and you have installed the proper thermostat.you need to buy a auto therometer to put in the radiator to check coolant temputure.if the engines hot you should be hearing the engine pinging.

I have the same problem with a '95 Buick Century with the 3.1 V6. When I bought it the previous owner said it has always been like that and the car never overheats at all. I replaced the coolant temp sensor figuring it was bad but that didn't fix it. I heard that there is a computer temperature sensor apparently behind the thermostat housing but I can't find one. I bled the cooling system but didn't notice any air coming out, just coolant. Everything seems fine just the gauge reads high and it gets there in about two minutes after starting the engine and stays right up at the red zone. Of course I'd like to fix it but not sure what to check next and I have run it hard and then stopped and felt under the hood and feel no excessive heat at all, just seems a normal temperature. No pinging, no problems, thing runs great, plenty of power at 75000 miles.

WOW need to find the leak and fix it before you damage the engine from overheating it. The heater wont work due to the fact there probably isnt any anti-freeze in the heater core.Need to take care of th eleak ASAP. It will always run hot/overheat if thecooling system cant hold pressure, that is what helps keep the coolant from boiling.I also suggest having a new thermostat installed

try back flushing the system. also check to see if there is any build up of leave or anything between the radiator and ac/ condensor restricting air flow through the radiator.
