2000 Chevy Impala Tranny shifts hard after 20mins. of Drivi

Hello,
After about 20 minutes of driving the car tends to shift hard and I can hear a whining sound. When I stop and turn the car off for an hour or so it seems to go away until the cycle repeats itself. Are there any bulletins or recalls on this ? Any ideas on a fix ?

more than likely it is a problem with the pressure control soleniod in the transmission. They've been having a few problems with them in the 4T65 transmissions..
Is the check engine light on?
If so, does it have a code p1811 stored in it?

About how much should I expect to pay for this type of repair? ( baseball park)

probably around $600 or so depending on your mechanics hourly rate.
