As we accelerated to merge on Interstate 44, when the transmission shifted from 3 to 4 it shifted so hard it felt like we hit a bump in the road. From then on it shifted hard at every gear change while accelerating. No problems downshifting.
About 45 minutes after it started doing this, we stopped at a gas station and I checked the transmission fluid level. It was fine.
After about a 10 minute break (to use the bathroom), we started on our journey again. The transmission shifted normally the rest of the way home, no hard shfits while accelerating.
Any ideas what caused it to shift hard in the first place? It's the first time it has done this. Any idea why it went back to accelerating normally after stopping?
