Two days ago the message center started flashing “low fuel”, “battery” and “security” and keeps rotating the same thing over and over. I was checking for blown fuses and loose or broken wires and saw that the main engine wire harness that plugs into another holder looked as if it was loose. There is a bar that locks them together and I pushed it the wrong way and it came apart. I put it back together and snapped the bar to lock it, now I can’t get the car started. Prior to this the fuel gauge stopped working, the cruse control stopped working and then the air bag picture came on. I am looking to know what the connection is between the harness coming apart and the car not starting and what I can do to get to the bottom of the message flashing, the fuel gauge and the cruse control not working. This has all happened the last week and a half.

Remove the negative battery cable, then seperate that connector, look for bent or pins that are pushing out, they will be lower than the others, then recheck your fuses, especially the underhood fuse block. You may have blown one plugging that connector back in!

I assumed that if I made a donation and it was acceptable that I would be dealing with 2pros and get a lead on what I did in disconnecting the Main Harness Wire at the plug connection and what what it may have done. The answer I got I thought to do before I got a response from your forum which didn't work. It appears that I got an answer from someone like me who doesn't know a lot about cars but does try.

OK here's what you didn't want to hear! You could have fried any number of sensors or modules, the only way you will find out is with a GM scantool, that has ywo way communications, these scanners can turn mods on and off, Do you have this tool? If you don't you'll need to be really good with a DVOM...
