1964 Chevy Impala V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

What would cause a delay of a few minutes when I turn the switch on for windshield wiper to start working,would that be the switch?Thank you

disconnect the wiper arm from the motor and turn on the wipers, if the motor starts, the wiper arms need to be lubed with white lithium grease.
if the motor still takes 2 minutes to start - replace it.
note; if you are pushing the washer to start the wipers, the wiper/washer cam maybe broken or damaged.
