Wipers Come On By Themselves

The windshield wipers come on by themselves even though the switch is in the off position. Trying to turn them off with the switch doesn't work but they stop eventually. When they are running by themselves, the switch will adjust the speed but won't turn them off. Is this the switch, the motor or something else?

This is a short to power somewhere in the circuit, so we just need to find it.

So, the way to find this is to check the system for power from the switch. When the wipers come on by themselves you can unplug the switch. If they don't cut off, then you still have a short in the wiring or the motor. Here is a guide that will help with this testing:

If it cuts off, then the issue is the switch or prior to the switch.
