Last week the digital reading on the instrument panel "faded." Certain segments of the numbers aren't as dark as they used to be, example: the top part of the 0, some of the fuel level lines, the numbers in the range, etc. This happened two weeks earlier too but disappeared the next time I started it.

I don't know if this is related but, yesterday the car hesitated when starting up and when I tried to start it later that day, after driving around, the battery was dead and I needed a jump. The battery is supposed to be "new" but it's cheap and not name-brand. I don't know much about the car's history as I just bought it a month ago.

So what do you think is going on with the speedometer display and how can I fix it?
Thanks for all your help!![img:30b9738055]http://www.2carpros.com/forum/automotive_pictures/212248_speedometer_1.jpg[/img:30b9738055]

Check alternator output, should be 13.5 to 14.5V at idle. This may be related to the battery going dead.
