Engine Performance problem
1990 Chevy Corvette V8 Two Wheel Drive 165000 miles

Car starts and idles fine but chokes out and stalls once you accelerate. Have to drive about 10 mph and stop and cool offer every 5 minutes to get it anywhere.

Hubby has replaced the Fuel pump, fuel filter, map sensor, TPS sensor, rotor cap, oxygen sensor, coolant temp sensor, plugs, and ECM.

ALso checked PSI at rail with read of 42 lbs. Also put in a can of BGk44 fuel injector cleaners. CAR STILL
WON"T RUN.

We took it to a shop that drilled a few holes in the muffler and drove it and thought there was some improvement, but couldn't guarantee it would fix the problem.

Any suggestions?

If it has a knock sensor check and test it, also check the igniiton timing to include a backpressure test on the exhaust system.

Ras,

You were right on the money! Since the knock sensor was a maintenance part and had never been changed we just bought one. When he took the other one out, the hole was plugged up with thick sludge. He poked it out and coolant came out. After putting new sensor on the car runs great!

I do want to donate for you FAST and CORRECT suggestion. Do you have a PO to mail to?

Again, A BIG THANK YOU!
