MY 87 VETTE'S BATTERY DRAINS OVERNITE. NEW GEL CELL BATTERY INSTALLED. WHEN BATTERY IS HOOKED UP (POSSITIVE FIRST) WHEN I TUCH THE NEGATIVE POST THE ENGINE STARTS, NEW BATTERY WENT DEAD OVERNITE TOO, AFTER TAKING IT ON 10 MILE RUN. ANY IDEAS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRICIATED.

most Corvettes draw a low voltage in there battery my die hard was doing the same thing so my suggestion is invest in a low voltage charger it should have a two volt on it plug it up to your battery at night to get a full charge and every other night depending how much you use the car.
GOOD LUCK

I am not a mechanic, let's get that out right now. I do however know that if your battery is draining overnight you have a problem, guessing a short of some kind. No car battery should drain that fast. My 88 has sat for 2 weeks at a time and fires up just fine and always has an active alarm on. I did have a short in mine years back, I think what my mechanic did to test for a short is touch a continuity light from the ground side of the battery to a ground on the other side of the car. It lit the light up, when it shouldn't have.
