I was wondering what would be the cause of my 85 corvette taking longer than normal to start (roughly 8 seconds or more) on a cold start. However, it starts much faster after that.

Any suggestions are appreciated!!!

That's most likely your fuel pressure regulator.

Your FPR is supposed to hold fuel pressure up near the injectors when you cut off your engine, so that when you're ready to restart, you won't have to crank the engine until fuel travels from the tank to the engine.

But if your FPR is leaking, then as your car sits for awhile, all of the fuel goes back to the tank.

Though less rare, this issue could be caused by a leaking fuel injector or stuck check-valve.

First check the FPR, then the check-valve, then for a leaking injector.
