Hello, first time posting.

I was driving my fathers 1960 Corvette on the highway, and while entering the highway and accelerating (gently, mind you... it is 45 years old) I hear a 'Bang Bang!" and a small circular object shot out from underneath my car. The tac gague dropped to 0, and the care IMMEDIATLY overheated. I made it to a gas station really quick, and looked, and the belt was off. So I continued to look, and It appears that there is a spot (where the crankshaft appears to come out of the front of the engine) that is bare, it has no pulley or anything on it. I was guessing that this is what came off, but I am not very good with cars, so it is only a guess...

Does this sound like a crankshaft pulley? How hard are they to replace if i was to try to do it myself? The exposed part of the crankshaft appered to be undamaged, but I am no expert.

Heres the other catch, I needed it for THIS FRIDAY (May 12th) for my Girlfriends Prom, and I would like to get it fixed by then if it is at all possible.

Thanks for your help

Determine the engine size by a pully, nut, washer and belts. Put it together if the crankshaft isn't damaged. Keep the RPM down it is an old car.

PS it isn't going to be easy to find so start early!

Oh, believe me, the rpm's stay low.

So You make it seem as if its an easy fix as long as you can find the part, is this true?
