I am helping with a friend's car. It has the wires on the fuel injection harness cut or melted.
The strange thing is that the wiring insulation looks cut not melted. The insulation under the hood directly above where the harness is seems to have flaked off, but only in that place.
As I looked near the harness, the insulation was spread all over the harness and beneath from where it had fallen. I can replace the fuel injection harness, however, what would cause something like this?
A short of some kind is my theory. My friend said she had just had the alternator replaced which happens to be right beside the fuel injector wiring harness.
