1995 Chevy Corsica Fuel injector fuze blows on starting

Welcome, did the problem start only after you replaced the pump? At key on engine off, does the regular fuse blow? Usually at key on, no crank, the pump will run for a couple of seconds, does it run without blowing the fuse? There is also an oil pressure switch in the fuel pump circuit, unplug it. Do an ohms test on each one of your injectors, see how the readings compare.

Hello, the problem did start when I replaced the fuel pump. When I attempted to plug in the new fuel pump pigtail, there was not enough slack in the pigtail. I gave it a "pull" and it came loose from the top of the installed gas tank... Then I had enough wire harnes to reach the plug in point.. My friends think I bared a wire in the pump pigtail or hooked up the pump wires incorrectly in the gas tank on the new fuel pump. The new fuel pump works fine and does not blow the fuel pump fuze. Now, only the injector fuze blows when I crank the engine.If I turn the ignition key to the run position , the injector fuze does not blow. Only when i turn the key to the start position does the injector fuze blow...

The info I looked at for the 2.2L engine shows the same fuse supplies voltage to the injectors-- switch side of fuel pump relay-- oil pressure switch in the fuel pump circuit? Are we talking about the same engine?

The engine in the corsica is the base 4 cylinder. When the fuel pump quit , I saved money by just buying a replacement fuel pump. I did not buy the whole pump assembly ( pump , pickup, excetera ). I think I attached a wire incorrectly in the tank too the new pump. It was confusing after the old pump was disconnected.... I am not a very good mechanic... (I don't understand how the injector fuze ( a 15 amp) now blows when I try to start the car and the fuel pump fuze ( 5 amp ) does not blow...? The new fuel pump pumps fuel just fine.. If I hooked a wire in the fuel pump wiring incorrectly in the tank , would that cause the injector fuze to blow ? I thank you for the help !!

Hi, I looked at two different databases, the 5 amp fuse isn't for the fuel pump. I think 5 amps is too low for that pump? I could be wrong, it wouldn't be the first time. The fuse box I looked at showed two 5amp fuses, neither one was for the pump?

Hello, I will do some checking this weekend on the car. I will try the info you sent. ( I will look at the manual again , too) . Do you think if I hooked the wires inside the tank too the new fuel pump incorrectly , the fuel pump would work , but the injector fuze would blow ?
It is getting cold where I live (northern Michigan ) and I really want to get the Corsica running .

I'd take the connector loose from the pump, if you can reach it. If the fuse still blows, the pump isn't causing the problem. My info shows the injectors and pump work off the same fuse. So one circuit can effect the other.
