1993 corisa idle

First thing I would do is check for vacuum leaks around the engine compartment.

Next I would scan for codes if the check lite is on or if you have a code scaner handy.

Also note that these cars have coil packs which if are bad can cause problems these problems. When has the car had a major tune up last.

If nothing else pans out you want to have the fuel presure checked for proper specs.

this is just a start but hopefully helps.

thanks for the info. here is what i have done within the last 3,000 miles. i have replaced plugs,wires,air filter, temp. sendors,thermostat,air idle solenoid,pcv valve and plenum gaskets. i have cleaned the egr and checked for vacuum leaks. the check light does not come on. can the coil packs only mess with it when it idles, because if you crack the throttle just 100 or 200 rpms then it is ok and runs smooth. i thought about checking fuel pressure but it is hard to check because it does not do it all the time and by the time you get hooked up it might run fine. maybe some day it will do it all the time and i can diagnose it better. in the meantime i will play around with it and see if i can find something. i will keep you posted if i find what it is. thanks for helping!!

Just to add the fuel pressure could be off required specs, the pump maybe working harder then it should. Your problem sounds fuel related.

Yes the packs affects the idle when it runs.

Has the packs been replaced within the past 2 to three years. Also have you changed the fuel fiter.

it sounds like you have had a good tune up but a complete tune up includes these as well.

I would start with having the fuel pressure tested.

I had this same problem on a Beretta. It sounds like you need to do a "Idle Relearn Prosedure". Hers what to do.

1. Unhook a Battery cable (doesn't matter which one)
2. Let it set a few minutes.
3. hook it back up
4. make sure the engine is cold
5. start the car and let it idle until the fan turns on and tuns back off.
6. shut the car off.
7. unhook the Battery again for a few minutes.
8. hook it back up and start the car.

The whole test should take about 20 min tops. If this doesn't change anything, try changing the coil packs and module. there about $20 a coil and $100 for the module. Happy Corsica.

Everythig you said was correct until you got to #7.If you disconnect the battery again you start the process over.Stop at #6.~Walt~
