Hello Tom,

This looks like you are having a problem with the security system which keep the engine from starting. The fact that you do nothing and the problem goes away mead the alarm module under the drivers seat is bad and needs replacement.

Please let us know what happens.

Best, Ken

What could cause my truck not to start on some occasions. The battery is fine and cranks but wont turn over at times. This is very random and I usually would wait ten or fifteen minutes and it would start. The frequency however is getting worse and the time to wait for it to start can be over an hour. This problem started about a year ago and would happen twice in a month. Now it does it at least twice a week. I called the chevrolet dealer where I purchased it. I bought it new. I was told it would be better off for it just to break down rather then do a diagnostic that would be costly. I really dont wont to get stuck on the road. Can you give me any suggestions on what could be causing this. The truck is a 4x4 5 cylinder. There are no other problems with the truck.

When it doesn't start, check for spark and fuel to the engine. One will be missing. At that point, you will be able to focus on a specific area.

When I turn the key to on the dash lights come on normally but nothing happens, Nothing clicks and the engine does not try to start. It has happened before. I think it is related to the fuse box under the hood. It always starts sometime later. It has happened when the engine is cold and also when the engine has been running.

check fuses and relay for corrosion first then check ground on left side of engine compt, another near battery and another on lh side of engine. it cold be a connection problem as well between pcm and relay or bcm and relay.

Engine Performance problem
2007 Chevy Colorado 4 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 46000 miles

Yesterday my car kept turning over and finally started. This morning it would not start or the alarm remote would not work. I got it jump started and took it to Auto Parts. They tested the battery and the alternator and they both were fine. What else can it be?

Thanks,
Christina

Could be fuel or spark problem do basic stuff below

Get a helper disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine atleast 3/16 away from ground-have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, coil's resistances, cap and rotor, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors and computer Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it and keep testing
