oil pan removal

You will have to remove any motor/trans mounts in the way and raise engine a few inches to get the pan off. Here are the instructions in the diagrams below to show you how to replace the oil pan. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

My daughter ran over a curb and cracked the oil pan and i wanted to know if it coukd be removed without removing the engine.

Yes, the engine does NOT need to be removed, here's how: Removal Procedure 1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle . Make sure that the oil pan and mounting surface on the lower crankcase are free of all oil and debris. 2. Apply a 3.5 mm bead of RTV around the perimeter of the oil pan and the oil suction port opening. Refer to Sealers, Adhesives, and Lubricants for the correct part number. Install the oil pan bolts. Tighten: Tighten the oil pan bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft). 5. Install the AC compressor bolts. Lower the vehicle. 8. Fill the engine oil to the proper level.

I hit a something in the road and cracked the oil pan and the car shutdown . Replaced the oil pan and the car won't crank. Is there a engine shutdown reset or sensor that needs to be replaced? Any suggestions or information would be c greatly appreciated...please help..

no rest or shut downs. if you hit the pan and lost oil, you may have seized the motor which will require replacement

try turning the motor by hand

2006 Chevy Cobalt 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive 26850 miles

I am trying to loosen the drain plug in a 2006 cobalt and it was put in very tight by the last person who changed the oil. since the oil pan is aluminum I dont want to apply too much pressure and warp the pan or the plug. What would be the easiest way to loosen it?

THere really isn't anything you can do other than apply enough pressure to loosten it. My concern is if the pan is aluminum, the threads may be stripped.
