2006 ignition stuck

My key is getting stuck in my ignition, the car will turn on and but the key will not turn back far enough to be removed unless i push a button under the steering column>

my car was doing the same thing and i have a 2005 chevy cobalt but it could be from your key being worn out because once i used my spare it hasn't happened.

I have a 2006 LT. and this happened to me a few times a while back, It has something to do with the battery. the first couple of times I just drove around the block and constatnly retried to remove the key it worked after a couple tries, then the last time I checked my Manual page 2-19. used the reference for "Column Lock Release" and followed the instructions to remove the key. I didnt take it to the dealership afterwards. but it hasn't done it since. It has been about 6 months.
