Stereo Locked?

Stereo reads "locked", how do i get the codes to unlock it? My girls 06 Cobalt is doing the same thing just says LOCKED did you find out how to fix this. I tried to get the codes out of it by turning key to ON and holding down 1&4 and 2&3 for 10 seconds and nothing stays at LOCKED. Please help

If you call the dealer with the vin number they will give you the code in most cases.

I heard in the shop you may need the tech 2,to unlock it. these radios have to be set up with the tech 2.using the radio buttons only worked up to around 01-02.the rest up to present have to be set up.Complete the following procedure, using a scan tool, in order to properly set up communication:

At the Main Menu screen, select: Diagnostics.
At the Vehicle Identification screens, build the vehicle.
At the System Selection Menu screen, select: Body and Accessories.
At the Body Screen, select: Entertainment.
At the Entertainment screen, select the appropriate radio.
At the Radio screen, select: Module Setup.
At the Module Replacement screen, select the appropriate module to setup.
Press EXIT on the scan tool and cycle the ignition.
