2005 Chevy Cobalt ticking noise

My car rescently just started making a loud ticking noise witch sounds like it is coming from the timing chain well we replaced both the timing chain and the tensionar and still the ticking noise. Its not knocking. the also we realized that it was over heating and leaking. Could this noise be coming from the water pump?

No, the water pump won't produce a ticking noise. If the pump goes bad it will either whine or grind.

If the ticking is steady and sounds metallic, then it's probably your lifters/valves.

Did your car run low on oil??? That's usually the cause of your lifters/valves becoming excessively worn and ticking.

Also, who replaced your timing chain??? If this was a shop, then you need to demand your money back or that they fix your engine correctly.

Because a competent shop wouldn't do work that wasn't necessary. But if it was the dealer and they did it under warranty, then that's fine.

And you'll definitely have to find out why your engine is overheating. Because if you continue to drive like that, you will blow a head gasket.
