2005 Chevy Cobalt no power

Engine Performance problem
2005 Chevy Cobalt 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 50.000 miles

I can not find the right spark plug tester to test for spark from the coil pack. also the computer used to read the codes keep freezing. The code scaner is not broke. Why woild i be having a dead cylinder? The engine light blinks indicating a miss-fire.
