1998 Chevy Cheyenne just died chevy truck

Does it have spark? Im new to propane so were gonna start basic.

no sp[ark from plugs

has 12 volts going to coil one side nothing other side

Have the PCM scanned for codes,it may have a bad cam or crank angle sensor so the PCM cant see the engine turning

a mechanic told me that the timming belt slipped

but the crank shaft marks and the roter line up at number one top

I through ever if the timming was a little off the engin would start roough but start.

It doesnt have a belt, its a chain.Line up #1 piston to TDC, then remove the dist cap and see where the rotor is pointing.Look at the inside of the cap to see where the contact is, the plug wire goes on in a different place than where the actual contact is inside the cap, if it is off, then it may very well have skipped the chain.Did you try scanning the PCM?

The rotor seems to be a the number one when the cramk is on the mark, even if it was a little offf it should start but rough

I got a code reader and checked there are no codes

not sure what the pcm is ?

checked the crank shaft sensor supposed to be 5 volts ac only getting .3 or so could it be that

Shoul;d be 3 wires at htecrank sensor, ground, 5 volts and the last is signal back to thePCM (computer) if you dont have 5 volts at the one of the wires that is most likely the problem

we tested the yelow wire what the book said

book also said that if the sensor was bad there would be no spark

it seems kind of simple do they go bad ?

Slao what about the cam sensor could that be the problem

the truck was stalling when comming to a stop

when you take your foot off the gas it wold cut out

and it was getting worse

Yes they do go bad, and I have replaced many of them.The cam sensor could also be the culprit, but they dont seem to go bad as often as the crank sensors

when testing the old one we cleaned it off and the truck started
volts a/c were only 2

new one 4.7 stillnot five maybe dirt ont he connections

Would cranking the engin without the sensor being in change the timming ???? the guys were running the test and it was not in.

runs rough and backfires the code said corralation was off. The book siad to erase it so I did

it will set that code if you crank it with the sensor out or if you moved the distributor.

changed the crank sensor the truck ran great

next day test drive after about five minutes shut off again

sensor voltage was at 2 than 4.7 but not starting

Whats the Problem It has to be something

simple we re not seeing

truck was stalling on and off

truck stopped starting

distubuter and rotor looks ok number on rotor and crank shaft markings ok

no spark

changed coil
changed ignition moduel

no spark

crank sensor putting out 2v a/c getting 12 v dc

code reader found no codes

changed crank sensor started right up
drove around five minutes and stalled

truck tried to start but kept diying out

Hummmmmmmmm has to be a simple problem

my friend said theres a pick up coil in the distrubter u could not find one.

Is the moduel bad.............

It could be the cam sensor, but that will ususally spit out a code, or at least let the engine run, just poorly.You may have a wiring problem betweem the computer and the crank sensor.Try hooking up your meter and see if the voltage varies if you move the wiring harness anywhere, this is an indicator of a bad wire.Also check every connector for pin-backout and corrosion.Also check continuity to ground through the sensors connector to see if th econnector itself may be bad

we checked allthe connectors ran a olvtage test and shoke the wires nothing

could the computor by bad PCM theres no codes

we have a chevy blazed whee it was going bad about the same miles 240000

I keep thinking something we are missing

Could be the PCM if all wires and connections are good, since the voltage is varying.
