1997 Chevy Cheyenne fuel pump

I have a 1997 Chevy C1500 pickup. Since 2002 I have put in 4 fuel pumps. Is there a problem with fuel pumps for this year vehicle? What can be causing the fuel pumps to be failing all the time?

Hi:
If you are replacing the pumps with an aftermarket pump, it could just be a lower quality. As far as I am aware, there are no TSB's indicating a problem.

I have a question up about this same thing!!!! There must be a cause. My mechanic doesn't buy cheap parts and this is the 2nd one {today} that has gone out. I do wonder if it's going out though as he whacked the side of the tank and the fuel pump worked, truck started right up.

On my posting/question besides your anwser may I please have a check list for this problem? Thankyou.
