1995 Chevy Cheyenne Hood Latch

1995 Chevy Cheyenne V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

The hood latch is not working properly & the hood won't pop open. The pull handle is very loose & I think something is disconnected under the hood. How do I get the hood open & get this fixed?

if you can pull the cable release and it feels as if it pulls the latch, then go outside and smack th hood where the latch is. Alot of times this is all that is needed to get it open unless the cable is broken. then you can open the hood in the normal way. Then make sure you oil the latch with either white grease or oil. If the cable is broken you'll have to devixse a coat hanger like tool to getbehind the grill and undo the latch. Not easy but doable. You might be able to reach it from teh bottom as well.....
