i have a 1967 chevelle with drum breaks. there is no slots to adjust breaks how do you adjust drum breaks with no slot for the spoon to go in

It's an iterative process. Take the drum off, tighten the shoes. If the drum won't go back on, back off the star a bit till it will. With the drum on, apply the brake pedal to center the shoes, then while pushing on the drum to seat it on the hub, turn it back and forth. If it rubs a little, that's ok, but it shouldn't rub excessively or bind.
