Need help fast!

I recently bought 1993 Chevrolet Cavalier RS, 2.2L. I changed transmission oil, engine oil and spark plugs. Everything was fine, then I noticed one of the fuel injectors had a small leak. I took it out changed the gasket and put everything back together. After that car cranked, turned over couple of times and backfired, it was like that for couple of times. I was not cranking excessively but after that when I turn the key it just engaged bendix but would not crank. I tried couple of times and the starter cracked on the nose. I changed the starter, again started very rough, backfired and died right away. After few tries it stoped turning over and same thing. I just cannot afford another starter please help.

Sounds like a couple problems.

On the runnability that will be your second concern, recheck carefully the spark plug wire routing, may have crossed 2...easy to do.

On the starting issue, hopefully the starter isn't damaged. Can you turn the engine over by hand with a breaker bar? May be easier with the plugs out.

Thanks for the advice, I eventualy solved it and imagine it was a 1.5$ repair.
The guy before had some problems with leaking of this injector. When I pulled it out it didn`t have smaller O ring seal and I thought that is probably how that is probably how they made it in GM. So with out this seal once you turn the key the cylinder gets full of fuel and engine won`t turn over since it`s harder to compress liquid and this is what broke the starter. Anyway, learn from my experience since every mechanic told me the engine was dead.

Yeah, that's where I was going with the breaker bar, although I was expecting possible coolant giving a hydrolock instead of fuel!

Get that oil changed asap.
