95 cavalier sensor not get power!

Is youre speed gauge functioning?. Also U might been getting a trouble code in youre transmission, ECU. Also are u getting an check engine light displayed?.

I don't think that there is supposed to be voltage on vss sensor wires. the sensor makes it's own ac voltage that the computer interputs witch in turn the ecm or in your case the pcm converts into a signal for the speedometer.I would stop at a autozone if possible and have the codes read. It is probably the vss bad but have your codes checked first.

Thank you both very much for replying to my question! No the speed hand that tells you what the speed your going doesn't move. The check engine light was on before we changed the transmission fluied an filter now its off. I believe it is the VSS that has gone bad in the car just getting the guys to believe it. There still going on about that wire not having power. Thank you again for your time I appreciate it! I just remembered the other day about 2 weeks ago maybe a little longer I had a water hose on the top bust an had to replace it an put more coolent in it would anything under the hood have gotten wet that would do this to the car? The car ran fine for atleast a week after that.

Your speed sensor going bad probably had nothing to do with your hose busting. I checked the chilton manual for your vehical which I have and yes the vss sensor wires have no power going to them. The speed sensor can cause the trans. to not shift right because the pcm dosn't know how fast the trans is going to tell the trans to shift. Did you have these shifting problems before your speedometer stoped working and before you changed the fluid??

The shifting problem is why we changed the trans fluied an filter. my dad has a chevy caprise an it did the same thing with the shifting so he changed the fluied an filter in it an it took care of the problem. As for the speed omiter I don't know it could have been acting up but I know the next day after the shifting problem started my dad went an got fluied an filter an changed it in the car then went to test drive afterward an came in the house an said the speed ominter wasnt' working so I don't know if he had just then noticed it or if it had just happend. but it would shift sometimes so it could have just then been going out. Common problem with the vss sensor, It gets gunked up, With wear of metals from the transmission, Ive just used carb or throttle body cleaner on the sensor, Once its been cleaned from the gunk usually works the way it supposed too, Vss sensor is like a nerve it sends pulses to the car ECU, Tells how much fuel is to be used and also air/Fuel mixture, etc.
