2005 Chevy Cavalier Replacement speed sensor

My speedometer stopped working. I went to an auto part store to buy a replacement speed sensor (since they cost <$20, I decided it's worth a shot to replace it to see if it fixes the problem). At the auto store, they offered me two parts: a speed sensor, or an input speed sensor. What's the difference? Which do I need?

The one you want to replace is the output speed sensor

Vehicle speed sensor (VSS)
This may also be known as an output speed sensor (OSS). This sensor sends a varying frequency signal to the TCU to determine the current speed of the vehicle. The TCU uses this information to determine when a gear change should take place based in the various operating parameters.

ISS

Input speed sensor is to determine the true speed of the vehicle to determine whether the vehicle is going downhill or uphill and also adapt gear changes according to road speeds, and also whether to decouple the torque converter at a standstill to improve fuel consumption and reduce load on running gear.
