2003 Chevy Cavalier Replacing rear brake shoes

I'm trying to replace my rear brake shoes. I have the car on a jack and the wheel removed. Now I am trying to loosen the slack adjuster to pull off the drum, but I can't find where in the backing plate I can access the the toothed wheel. The brake line is at 12:00, and there are two oval plugs at 2:00 on the edge and 11:00 an inch out from center. I've looked in both these holes and can't find the slack adjuster. And I can't find any other hole in the backing plate.
