Electrical problem
2002 Chevy Cavalier Front Wheel Drive Automatic 78000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
I recently purchased this car for my granddaughter as her first car. She loves it. I am concerned that when the vehicle is taken out of PARK, the doors do not lock automatically. I thought this was a feature added to vehicles many years ago. This vehicle has remote unlocking/locking capabilities and when the shifter is moved from PARK, the exterior running lights come on. This indicates that the contact is working. Does the locking feature not exist or is it malfunctioning? If so, what is the fix?
Thanks,

Dan

Not sure which Cavalier you have (4 models0 but reading on your locks it doesnt appear to have that option. Doors locking isnt a mandated option.Daytime running lights are.Sounds like it has RKE (remote keyless entry)

It is a 4-door and has RKE. Is it possible to add the auto lock feature at this time? Seems like a simple add a wire or connection. I know, nothing is simple with today's cars!!
Thanks,

I dont think it would be an easy add-on.The reason it isnt required is that they cant come to an agreement on whether or not you want the doors locked if you are in an accident
