2001 Chevy Cavalier P0141 Code

Hello...

Midas replaced exhaust system 3 days ago. 8 miles later my check engine light came on. Went to Autozone said it was P0141. Went to Midas to have them check it and they said "it looked fine" took it down off the rack and put it at the door. Decided to go back to Autozone and purchased OEM Bosch O2 sensor. Installed it. Left the battery unhooked during installation to reset. Reconnected the battery, started it, and light is still on. Went back to Autozone and it is still P0141. Any thoughts on this? I do believe in coincidences, but this is suspicioius.

When Midas put the exhaust on, I had to wait as they were delivered the wrong center pipe. Is it possible if they installed the wrong muffler I would get this code?

its possible they have used the incorrect catalytic converter or no converter at all, this will throw the same code as the oxygen sensor codes.

They replaced the exhaust from the cat back. The cat is the original to the car, was not replaced, and is still intact.

may need to go to autozone and have them delete the stored trouble code, disconneting battery does not always do the trick on newer vehicles. if that doesn't help then there must be wiring issues somewhere for that sensor.

What's your take on whether it could be coincedence or possibly linked to replacing the exhaust?

I've used Midas for years, never had anything like this, just makes me wonder.

don't think the place did anything wrong, i believe having the exhaust worked on period has caused the code to appear but like i say it probably just needs deleted through a diagnostic scanner and see if it comes back then. those emission sensors are very sensitive so any type of work on the exhaust will usually set the code off.
