1998 Chevy Cavalier Replacing the Alternater

It is very tight quarters to work on the alternater on the cavalier. When we were removing the old alternater the maind HOT wire that screws onto the hots post of the alternater broke at the far end of the wire were it connect to the rest of the engine. Reconnecting it to the alternater is not problem but we can't figure out where the other end of the wires goes. The wire is only abot 12 inches long and that does narrow down the options but it is so cramped in there that we cant tell wehre it goes. A descriptin woudl help a diagram would be even better. Can you help me. thanks Gary

You will have to unwrap the wiring harness near the alternator to find where it broke off from.
There should be a gap in the harness wrap where the wire came out of. Shouldn't be hard to find.
Splice with heavy enough connector because that lead carries a lot of amperage and can overheat or burn out if not spliced properly.
