Noises problem
1998 Chevy Cavalier 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 188xxx miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
I was turning around this evening in a parking lot, and once I turned back onto the road I was shifting from 1st-2nd, and noticed this knocking sound, checked everything related, suspension, wheels, made sure all the guards were still on. Anyways the noise doesnt come til around 3000rpm, I am just curious to if you could lead me the right way before I take it to a shop

Hi there,

I would be checking the drive shafts, and have a look around the suspension & steering as well, but you better get it off to let a mechanic make any diagnosis for you..

I checked all that, everything checks out, and is fine, my question now, I took apart some of the top, thinking it was the lifters, they are fine, when I was putting it back together I noticed that my coil pack was cracked severly, I was working at night so I popped it back on, and took a close look at it, it was arching like a mofo, could it be this causing it to have a nasty misfire which could be misleading me to think my motor is done, now keep in mind, I do not loose any power with my motor which makes me beleive it is still in good condition
Thanks
