1997 Chevy Cavalier 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

when the problem started i would turn the key and it was like a humming sound but everything was on in the car and on the outside of the car i had some one to check it and they found that the wire from my batter that connects to the started was lossen he tighten it but about 2 hours later the problem was the same. i had to turn key hold it and pat the gas and it started but when they checked it again he said the lug that connects to the started was lossen he tighten it but it cranks now but it still has the thing where its slow about starting up do i need another starter or do i need to replace that lug
