1997 Chevy Cavalier clutch

The clutch works fine but when you put it into gear it shifts hard and then it jumps into gear really quick then won't release. What is wrong? what do i do?

Most likely the clutch hydraulic system (slave and MC) is at fault. Make sure clutch MC is full, if problem persists change slave, and on most Cav's it is in the input shaft of trans, so trans will have to be removed.
