1995 Chevy Cavalier HELP!!!!!

i have a 1995 chevy cavalier with the 2.2 motor. when i start the car the first time it will idle and run fine. after getting up to normal temp. if i come to a stop light it will begin to chug and sputter, then eventually die. if i can get it started again, anywhere from about 30 mph on up it runs fine. but usually it doesnt start back up. i have replaced plugs, wires, fuel filter, and 'cleaned' the egr valve. (the vac. port was clogged) it acts like it doesnt get enough fuel when its chugging. i usually have to feather the gas pedal in order for it to stay running! HELP!!!!!!

this sounds like ignition module or crank sensor possibly bad injectors

even though the car runs great at highway speeds? the only time it does it is when i starting from a dead stop, after it has been running for a while. when i make a 'rolling' stop it just does it a little bit, but when i come to a complete stop it will usually stall out, then it wont start until it has cooled down (30 min. or so) i will look at those things anyways. Thank you

also if its not too much trouble, could you tell me how to get the trouble codes off of the computer? it is obd1 but has an obd2 plug in! i tried jumping the pins like you would do with obd1 but it didnt work, and my obd2 scanner dosent work! and i dont want to spend $60 at the dealer for them to tell me unless thats my ONLY option.

Hi derekschut,

Jumping pins can only be used for the 12 pin DLc and for OBD-II DLC you would need a Tech 1 scan tester or equivalent. Not all OBD-II scan tester are compatible so it is not surprising your's cannot read. Maybe you can try a different tester. Most major parts outlets provide free scanning services, try them out to see if any can help you.

The stalling could be related to the troble code so you should retrieve the code first before proceeding.
