1994 Chevy Caprice V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

hello, i have a 94 caprice classic and where the oil filter connects to the motor their is a oil leak, and we think what holds the oil filter their is a gasket that could of went bad but we aren't for sure, how can we remove what holds the oil filter to examen the problem?

im trying to picture this. there is a aluminum housing mounted to engine block and the oil filter screws onto it? if so you need to remove the stud in the middle and the aluminum housing will come down and there will be a big o ring that will need replacing.
