1994 Chevy Caprice axle came out of rear

I recently aquired a car from a friend who while driving the axle came out of the car. Iremoved the diff. cover and found a hook shaped piece of metal lying on the bottom of the diff.. What do I need to do to re-install the axel into the housing.

first you need to see if the axle is damaged n the end. then pull the diff plate and remove the pin in the center. slide the axle back in and get a new clip to put on the end of the axle. movve the axle back out and reinstall the pin and plate. fill the axle up with acle dope.
